Percentage increase or decrease:
Result = ((New − Old) ÷ Old) × 100

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate a percentage of a number?

Divide the percentage by 100 and multiply by the number. Example: 25% of 200 is 50.

How do I know if the result is an increase or decrease?

If the new number is larger than the old one, it is an increase. If it is smaller, it is a decrease.

Can I use decimals in this calculator?

Yes. You can enter whole numbers or decimals such as 12.5, 0.75, or 199.99.

What happens if the original value is 0 in percentage change?

The standard percentage-change formula divides by the old value, so it does not work when that value is 0.

Who uses a percentage calculator?

Students, shoppers, business owners, workers, and anyone who needs to compare or convert values into percentages.
