Sheets = Ceiling(Width ÷ Cover Width) × Ceiling(Slope Length ÷ Sheet Length) × Roof Planes × Waste factor

An 8 m-wide roof plane using 0.85 m effective cover needs 10 sheets across. A 4 m slope using 3 m sheets needs 2 rows. Two similar planes give 40 sheets before waste.

Measure the project carefully, use the effective product dimensions or coverage supplied by the manufacturer, add a realistic allowance, and round purchasing quantities up to saleable units.

Use this estimate before requesting quotations, comparing suppliers, preparing a budget, or checking whether delivered quantities match the planned project.

Do not mix units, use nominal dimensions where effective coverage is required, or treat a planning estimate as a structural specification.

It is the width one sheet actually covers after the required side overlap. Use the manufacturer\u2019s cover width, not the total sheet width.

Should I enter roof slope length or building width?

Enter the measured distance along the roof slope from eave to ridge or high point.

How do I handle a gable roof?

Enter the dimensions of one plane and set roof planes to two when both sides are the same size.

Does the waste allowance include ridge caps?

No. Waste covers sheet cuts and handling. Ridge caps, valleys, flashings, screws, and gutters should be estimated separately.

Can sheets run in more than one row?

Yes. The calculator rounds the number of rows up when the slope is longer than the usable sheet length.
